NOTHING
beats an original design ŻŻ in painting or in
print, and at Namaste Bharat ŻŻ a handicraft shop
with contemporary stuff, you find both. The shop was set up on 22nd of April
1999 by Rachana Kapoor, with background in fine arts and whose main hobby was
fabric painting.

Her hobby led her to painting of bed sheets, sarees, duppattas, shirts, wall pieces and supply them to 'matching centres' on C.G Road of Ahmedabad City, when the road was not as developed. Then starting with an investment of Rs. 500, her career kicked off with bedspreads that were exclusive. Reason : The tie & die combined with block print which she introduced in the market for the first time. She creates the design, gets the block made, buy cloth ( 90% of which is cotton), specially gets it washed at the ghat, then mercerised and processing on it starts.

She has a team of around 40 artisans from Gujarat & Rajasthan. One bed
sheet takes around 5-7 people. So everything in Namaste Bharat is done up
exclusively and personally for you. There are a lots of colours and variety
available. You'll get tie and dye with block or block print with hand embroidery
and so on. A single bed sheet ranges from Rs. 155 to 450, a double bed sheet from
Rs. 265 to 450 and a dress material with duppatta starts from Rs. 250 to 700. Also available are Ganesha's , bags, key chains, torans, ethnic furniture, wall hangings, cushion covers, table mats, dining table covers, and curtain cloth costing Rs. 75 & onwards.
